Let me give you a little background information. I was born and raised within the South African Dutch Reformed Church – a patriarchal system where predestination was the order of the day. And really, there were no surprises. After all, God knew everything that I’d done, was doing and would be doing. In fact, God knew whether or not I was saved or damned and there really wasn’t anything I could do about it. If God said I was going to go to Hell, nothing I could do would change the matter one whit.
